Cogent Evaluation is a woman-owned small business that specializes in evaluation of school and community-based prevention, education, health promotion, and social service programs.  Our experienced and highly skilled team provides methodological and substantive expertise that positions our clients to apply a wide range of cutting-edge evaluation approaches and analytic methods to answer real world questions.  We then work with our clients to develop strategic communications plans that disseminate the evaluation findings to the client’s audiences. Ms. Holly Carmichael Djang is a Principal Evaluator at Cogent Evaluation.  Ms. Carmichael Djang has over sixteen years of experience designing and leading research and evaluation projects for private and community foundations, nonprofits, school districts, government agencies, and universities.  Her work has centered on exploring programs designed to aid vulnerable and low-income populations.  She has a Master's degree in Family Research from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from George Mason University.  Prior to Cogent, Ms. Carmichael Djang led the research and evaluation department of a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization, and worked at a ThinkTank in Washington DC.  Her work spans the public health, public education, and family dynamics arenas.  She is particularly drawn to work that lies at the intersection of these fields.

Ms. Cori Ahrens is the Principal Communications Strategist at Cogent Evaluation. She has over 15 years of experience in developing outreach plans, directing and executing branding campaigns, and crafting strategic communications and marketing strategies. Her specialty is understanding how to address the needs of, and compel, various stakeholders simultaneously. She has a MBA from the George Washington University School of Business, and a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Prior to Cogent, Ms. Ahrens led the marketing strategy for a national children’s hospital, and consultant with various clients around the country on their communications strategies.

Cogent Evaluation collaborates with organizations and independent consultants on an as-needed basis in order to best meet the needs of clients.  We have a network of data vizualization experts, graphic designers, and statisticians that we partner with when needed.
